The Ithellian College of Magic and Science is possibly the most famous magic school in all of Ithria. Although not the largest, it is one of the wealthiest and certainly one of the most prestigious. This school teaches many subjects in addition to magic. A wide spectrum of classes, including literature, history, mathematics, geography, religion, sociology, etiquette and calligraphy make up the mundane tuition. The magical curriculum includes basic magic philosophy, spell research, arcane mathematics, spell formulae, herbalism and alchemy. The Ithellian College of Magic and Science is a source of great pride for the city of Ithell.
The Ithellian College of Magic and Science is more than just a school. It is the wizard's guild of Ithell serving as an academy of higher learning, social gathering place for mages, administrative center and center of arcane research and study. Local mages and nobles typically refer to this place as "the College". Within these hallowed walls, all mages are considered brothers, united in their common quest - that of mastering the Art. Disputes between mages are not allowed to have any manifestation while inside the College. The College has ties to both the Lore Masters and the Hall of Tomes.
The school is home to some four hundred students and graduates about twenty students in an elaborate ceremony in the spring of each year.
The College of Magic and Science is run by Sincro Fashad, an outspoken wizard with strongly held convictions about the art of magic. He is the most powerful and talented wizard in Ithell. It is widely rumored that Master Fashad is on good terms with the reclusive mage Morlokk and that friendship may be partly responsible for the success of the school. Master Fashad will sometimes be invited to the Hall of Tomes to lecture, especially at graduation ceremonies.
The College is an imposing edifice of grey stone curtain walls, flying buttresses, fluttering pennants and broad stairways. Cobblestone walkways meander through gardens bursting with blossoms. Statues stand guard about cloistered courtyards. The College has an air of serene academia about it. It is a place of quiet seclusion and study.
